Buzzy Bees is a major update; mainly focused on bees and the items relating to them, as well as also fixing bugs from previous versions. The update was released on December 10, 2019, only for the Java and Bedrock editions of Minecraft.[1][2]
This update was released on Java Edition as version 1.15. This update's development started with snapshot 19w34a, which was released on August 22, 2019.[3] The first pre-release for Java Edition 1.15 was released on November 21, 2019, followed by the second on November 25, the third on November 28, the fourth on December 3, the fifth on December 5, the sixth on December 6 and the seventh on December 9.[4]
It was released on Bedrock Edition as version 1.14.0.
Additionally, this update was released for Minecraft Education in 1.14.31 on August 7, 2020.
For the China Edition, the full update was released on July 16, 2020.
The official name for the update, Buzzy Bees was revealed on November 21, 2019, in a blog post on Minecraft.net.[4]
Additions

Bee Nest
- Are the homes of bees.
- Fill up with honey which can be collected through glass bottles.
- Can also use shears for honeycombs.

Beehive
- Can be crafted using 6 wood planks and 3 honey combs.
- An artificial home for the bees.
- Fill up with honey which can be collected through glass bottles.
- Can also use shears for honeycombs.
Honey Block
- Crafted using four honey bottles.
- Entities touching their sides slide down slowly.
- A player or mob can only jump 3⁄16 blocks high on honey blocks.
- Take away some fall damage upon falling onto it.
- Blocks adjacent to the honey block are moved when the honey block is moved by a piston.
- When used in tangent with a slime block, the honey block does not move.
Honeycomb Block
- New items
- New mobs
Bee
- Inflict Poison if provoked (on normal and hard difficulty). After attacking once, they become passive and die shortly after.
- Attack in groups if provoked, like zombified piglins and wolves.
- Can pollinate crops, making them grow faster when passing over them in a pollinated state.
- Avoids water.
- Homeless bees wander around searching for empty beehives.
- Can be bred with flowers.
