Spring to Life is a game drop that released on March 25, 2025.[1] It added warm and cold variants to various passive animal mobs, new foliage blocks to biomes, and ambience features such as sounds and falling leaf particles.
During development, the update was referred to as Spring Drop 2025 and Drop 1 2025 as the name of the Bedrock Edition experiment. The final name and release date of the update were revealed during Minecraft LIVE – March 2025, on March 22, 2025.
Additions
Blocks
- A new type of decorative block which can be found in the forests, dark forests and wooded badlands.
- Works like pink petals.
- Can be smelted from any type of leaves block.
- A new type of flower which grow in birch forests, old growth birch forests and meadows.
- Works like pink petals.

- Generates in swamps and near rivers.
- When it's light level 13 or lower, glowing firefly particles appear around the firefly bush, up to 5 blocks away.

- A variant of the egg laid by the cold chicken variant.
- Can spawn the cold chicken variant when hatched.
- A variant of the egg laid by the warm chicken variant.
- Can spawn the warm chicken variant when hatched.

- Village Map
- Sold by cartographers.
- Used to find villages.
- Jungle Explorer Map
- Sold by cartographers.
- Used to find jungle pyramids.
- Swamp Explorer Map
- Sold by cartographers.
- Used to find swamp huts.
Mobs
There are now cold[info 1] and warm[info 2] variants of pigs, cows, and chickens.
- The variant of naturally spawned mobs is determined by the biome they spawn in.
- When bred by a player, a baby of these mobs will not be a variant chosen by the current biome, but instead randomly be selected from one of its parent's variants.
- The temperate versions of the mobs spawn by default wherever the cold and warm variants do not.
Temperate Pig: The pre-existing pig variant.
Cold Pig: A variant that spawns in cold biomes.[info 1]
Warm Pig: A variant that spawns in warm biomes.[info 2]
Temperate Cow: The pre-existing cow variant.

World generation
- Fallen trees already existed in Bedrock Edition before this update.
- Fallen trees are a new decorative variant of trees.
- Fallen trees come in four different wood type variants:
- Birch fallen trees can come in a shorter version or a longer version.
- Fallen trees are sometimes decorated with mushroom or vines.
- Fallen trees can be found in all biomes where their standing tree variants grow, except the following:
- Meadow
- Bamboo Jungle
- River
- Grove
- Flower Forest
- Has fallen birch trees but not fallen oak trees.
Changes
Blocks
- Can now make ambient sounds when placed on top of two blocks of sand, red sand or any color of terracotta.
- Can now be found in ruined portals.
- The crafting recipe was altered to now require an iron ingot instead of a netherite ingot.

Sand, Red sand, Terracota and Stained Terracotta
- Sand, red sand and terracotta of any color have a chance of playing ambient sounds when surrounded by any one of them on at least 3 sides 8 blocks away.
Items
- Now generates in village chest loot.

- Overhauled all spawn egg textures to be a caricature of the mob in question.
Mobs
- Cartographers now offer the following items:
- Sell 7 new explorer maps pointing to each village type as well as jungle temples and witch huts.
- Different biome cartographers will have different selections of these maps, available at Apprentice level.
- Cartographers from different village types sell a different range of maps and colored banners.
- Prices and quantities for some trades have been adjusted.
- Trial chamber and ocean monument maps remain available at Journeyman level.
- Colored banners are sold at Expert level, with the range varying by biome.
- A woodland mansion map is guaranteed at Master level, along with the globe banner pattern.

- Improved prices, more trade options, and larger stock amounts for many items.
- New items the wandering trader can sell:
Logs (Oak, Spruce, Birch, Jungle, Acacia, Dark Oak, Cherry, Pale Oak)

- The wandering trader now offers to buy two items from the following list:
- Changed the rules for sheep coloring to be based on which biome they spawn in:

- Sheep colors for temperate biomes is unchanged from current behavior.
- In a parity update with Bedrock Edition, sheep in Java Edition now display the correct wool color on their undercoat.
- Changed texture and extended snout by one pixel.
- Now has sound personalities: Big, classic, cute, puglin, angry, grumpy, and sad.
- Wolves receive their sound personalities when they spawn.
- These change how wolves sound when they bark, pant, whine, or growl.
- Pigs, cows, and chickens can now spawn with spawn events by using
/summonor/eventto spawn their cold and warm variants.
