20w07a is the second snapshot for Java Edition 1.16, released on February 14, 2020,[1] which adds piglins, baby hoglins and some changes to endermen and beacons.
This snapshot contains a bug which causes all villagers with saved memory disappear when upgrading to it, which was fixed in the following snapshot.[2]
Additions
Items
Mobs
- Added baby hoglins.
- Spawn in crimson forests and nether wastes biomes.
- Randomly spawns with golden sword or crossbow.
- Adults are hostile; babies are passive.
- Don't attack players wearing golden armor.
- Adult piglins turn aggressive when a player is mining blocks of gold or opening chests, even if they are wearing gold armor.
- The player can barter with them by right-clicking with gold ingots or drop them on the ground, which makes them drop at least one item or block.
- Common barters (10⁄109 or about 9.17%) are 1–4 soul sand, 1–4 brown mushrooms, 1–4 red mushrooms, 1–4 crimson fungi, 1–4 nether bricks, 3–8 flint, or 4–12 rotten flesh.
- Uncommon barters (5⁄109 or about 4.59%) are 1 shroomlight, 1 fire charge, 4–12 gravel, 2–5 raw porkchops, 2–7 leather, or 1–2 warped fungi.
- Rare barters (2⁄109 or about 1.83%) are 2–4 glowstone dust, 1–3 magma cream, or 2–4 ender pearls.
- Very rare barters (1⁄109 or about 0.92%) are 1 warped nylium, 1–4 nether quartz, or 1 obsidian.
- Attack adult hoglins sometimes.
- Baby piglins do not attack and adult piglins do not attack baby hoglins.
- Attack wither skeletons.
- Avoid soul fire, soul fire torches, soul fire lanterns, and zombie pigmen.
- Prefer to hunt and fight in groups.
- Convert to a zombie pigman when in the Overworld.
General
- Added block tag
beacon_base_blocks.- Contains block of iron, block of gold, block of diamond, block of emerald, and block of netherite.
- Controls what blocks can be used to build a beacon base.
- Added block tag
wall_post_override.- Contains lantern, soul fire lantern, torch, soul fire torch, redstone torch, and tripwire.
- Controls what non-solid blocks can transform walls into their pillared block state.

wither_summon_base_blocks. - Added item tag
beacon_payment_items.- Contains iron ingot, gold ingot, diamond, emerald and netherite ingot.
- Controls what items can be used as payment in a beacon's GUI. This does not affect the items displayed by the beacon's GUI.
Text
- Added text for translation string
death.attack.magic.player[3] which appears when a player dies to a potion of Harming after being attacked by a player. It now says "Player was killed by magic whilst trying to escape attacker".
Textures
- Added the zombified piglin entity texture.
- Added the leather, chainmail, iron, golden, diamond and netherite helmet textures used for piglins.
Changes
Blocks
- Netherite blocks can be used as the base of a beacon and netherite ingots can be used as the fuel for a beacon.
- Now have an animated texture.
- Removed the wood colors from the texture.
Items
- Changed the texture of the hoglin spawn egg.
- Using a spawn egg on a mob that doesn't have a baby variant now spawns an adult of that mob type.
Mobs
- Can now pick up nylium, crimson roots, warped roots, and fungi variants.
- No longer pick up netherrack.
- Attack players on sight.
- Drop pork and sometimes leather.
- Breed when fed crimson fungi.
- Are hunted by adult piglins sometimes.
- Are not hunted by baby piglins and baby hoglins are not hunted at all.
- Move away from placed warped fungi.
- Have new sounds.
- Can now be summoned using soul soil in the base.
Non-mob entities
- No longer delete replaceable blocks such as snow, grass, fire etc. when placed inside them.
Gameplay
- Piglins and hoglins now count towards the Monster Hunter and Monsters Hunted advancements.
General
- Removed netherrack and added fungi, crimson roots, warped roots, and nylium variants to the
enderman_holdableblock tag.
