0.0.19a[1] is a version of Java Edition Classic released alongside server version 1.5 on June 19, 2009, at 22:35 UTC, which added sponge and glass.[2]

- Glass is textured, but is semi-transparent.[3]
It does not render in the hotbar and when underwater.[4]

- Water cannot be seen through glass.[14]
- Glass cannot be seen through water.[15]
- Glass is invisible in darkness.[16]
- Water has Z-fighting issues.[17]
- Mobs have backwards heads.[18]
- Pressing pick-block on sand switches to glass[19] and using it on cobblestone switches to sponge.
