This guide is a simplified overview of all non-experimental changes in the Armored Paws drop (Java Edition 1.20.5), which assumes at least some familiarity with the Bats and Pots drop (Java Edition 1.20.3)

Mobs

New

Name Image Habitat Drops Note
Armadillo Badlands and savanna biomes. 1–3XP (when killed by a player or tamed wolf)
  • Rolls up if it's hurt, confronted by an undead mob, or players who are sprinting, mounted, or on a vehicle.
  • Drops a armadillo scute every 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Can also be brushed to drop one armadillo scute, using brush's durability.
  • Can be bred with spider eyes.

Spiders & cave spiders Now run away from armadillos that are not rolled up.
Wolves
  • Received eight new variants, specific to the biome they are spawned in.
  • Now spawns in sparse jungle, savanna plateau, and wooded badlands.
  • Tamed wolves now have 40HP♥ × 20 instead of 20HP♥ × 10, and no longer takes half damage from most environmental sources.
Shulkers Can no longer destroy armor stands.

  • Protects wolves from damage taken from most sources, until it loses durability and breaks.
  • Durability indicated by visible breakage on the armor.
  • Can be removed from wolves by using shears.
  • Can be repaired by using armadillo scutes.
