Sunny is one of the nine default player skins in Minecraft, and the fourth to be introduced. They first appeared in promotional material for The Wild Update, alongside Noor and Efe, and has since become a major recurring character in the franchise.

Appearance

Sunny is typically depicted with wide arms, and warm skin. They have a black short cut, white eyes, black pupils, and brown lips. Their outfit is a pair of blue overalls on top of a green flannel jacket with black and white shoes, but their signature feature is a prosthetic arm made of metal.

In the character creator, Sunny has approximately five unique items. Note that their prosthetic arm is part of the base.

Trivia

  • Similar to Steve's beard being confused for a smile, many players mistake Sunny's hair for a hat, such as a beanie.
    • By extension, it is also commonly called a bowler cut, which wasn't the intention.[2] Despite this, it is referred to as one in the character creator.
  • Of all nine default skins, Sunny is Jasper Boerstra's personal favorite.[3]
  • Although not usable in the map itself, Sunny and Noor are used to promote the map Trial Chamber Legends.[4]
  • Despite there being an arm category, Sunny's prosthetic is actually a part of their base in Bedrock Edition.
  • In a Minecraft Monthly video announcing the Beyond the Pale Garden event, Sunny can briefly be seen without their overalls, before suddenly regaining them. This is due to the fact that they are wearing different pants instead of their normal overalls.[5]
  • In multiple YouTube shorts, Sunny is usually depicted having a masculine voice.[6]
  • Prior to Sunny's introduction, the character Greta in Minecraft Dungeons also had a prosthetic arm, designed as an intentional connection between the two.[7]
