In 2016, Brooks was announced to helm Minecraft: The Island, the first official novel published by Mojang Studios.[1] In order to prepare for the book, he made a world within Java Edition to tinker with and plan any potential scenarios.[2] The following months revealed the cover, while the book would release on July 18, 2017. [3][4]
In 2021, the book received a sequel in the form of Minecraft: The Mountain. In order to promote it, a map was released continuing its story on the Marketplace, Brooks being interviewed on its continuity.[5]
In 2023, the series would conclude with its third installment, Minecraft: The Village. Feeling the story concluded satisfyingly, Brooks would recount on his experiences writing the trilogy in an interview with Brightly.[6]
