Colored Planks

This article documents a feature that has only been mentioned.

 

This feature is unlikely to be added to the game in the foreseeable future.

Colored Planks were a briefly considered dyed version of planks. They have not been implemented, and stained terracotta was added instead.

History

Nathan Adams briefly thought about implementing colored wood planks, releasing a test image on his Twitter page on April 24, 2013. This however never got implemented, as can be seen from the following quotes. The idea was eventually replaced with stained terracotta.

Later updates have since then introduced new wood sets resembling some of the dyed plank colors:

• The Update that Changed the World added orange and brown planks in the form of acacia and dark oak planks
• The Nether Update added magenta and cyan planks in the form of crimson and warped planks
• The Wild Update added red planks in the form of mangrove planks
• Trails & Tales added yellow and pink planks in the form of bamboo and cherry planks
• The Garden Awakens added white planks in the form of pale oak planks
