Pumpkin Pastures is the third mainland mission in Minecraft Dungeons. It is unlocked after the completion of Creeper Woods, and completing Pumpkin Pastures does not unlock any missions. It contains the captured mystery merchant.

It always generates the Mystery Ship optional sub dungeon that contains a scroll which, if collected, unlocks the Arch Haven secret mission.

Appearance and description

Pumpkin Pastures is a vast expanse of autumnal farmlands and villages that have been ravaged by the Arch-Illager's army, with the villagers of the pastures having been captured and caravanned elsewhere. It features burning village houses, pumpkins, lakes, ruins, bridges, windmills, and farms. Near the start of the mission, a large ship can be found that contains the entrance door of Mystery Ship. Mystery Ship contains the captured mystery merchant, as well as a scroll left behind by a navigator from Pumpkin Pastures.^[1] Halfway through the mission, to the north-east atop the stone brick battlement a button near some crates can be activated to reveal the entrance door of Pumpkin Pastures Rune Room^{[note 1]}. In an area found shortly afterwards, a drawbridge must be lowered using two levers, leading to a supplies chest and granting access further into the mission. At the end of the mission, a village bell can be found in the center of a village that, if rung, alerts the Arch-Illager who summons an ambush of illagers. Upon defeating the ambush, the town hall building can be reached to the north-east which, if entered, ends the mission.

• Pumpkin Pastures is one of only two non-secret missions that are not required to finish the main story, sharing this distinction with Soggy Swamp.
• During development, Pumpkin Pastures was implemented out of a desire for an area of brightly lit, open farmlands, as opposed to previously implemented levels, which had been dark and cramped.^[2]
• On default difficulty, one evoker always spawns as a mini boss on the main path shortly before the village found at the end of the mission.
• Although pillagers do not appear normally in this mission without the presence of modifiers, two of them can be seen in the loading screen for this mission, as well as in pre-release screenshots.
