Gauntlet of Gales is the eighth island realms mission in Minecraft Dungeons. It is unlocked after the completion of Creeper Woods, and completing Gauntlet of Gales does not unlock any missions.

Appearance and description

Gauntlet of Gales is a highly-decorated labyrinth located beneath Gale Sanctum. It is composed of marble rooms decorated with gold and jade, is filled with a copious number of wind puzzles, and is connected by long, thin hallways. The progression of Gauntlet of Gales is broken up into three sections: an easy puzzle, a medium-difficulty puzzle, and a hard puzzle. It features open-flame torches, small waterfalls, propeller-activated pulleys, ambush pillars that release wind bursts, white glowing lanterns, marble pipes used to direct wind currents, water channels, and glowing lamps with a Redstone Monstrosity insignia on them. The starting area of the mission takes place in a small room enclosed by a gate, a gate that can be lowered using a button found in the room. After progressing past the thin hallways to the south, the easy puzzle section can be reached, which can feature a variety of different wind puzzles, parkour challenges, and ambushes. At the end of the easy puzzle section, a supplies chest can be opened and the medium-difficulty puzzle section can be reached. Like the easy puzzle section, this puzzle section can feature an additional variety of challenges, but with increased complexity. The final puzzle section, found after completing the medium-difficulty puzzles, features a final collection of difficult and complex puzzles, some of which contain squall golems. After completing the hard puzzle section, one final ambush must be defeated in a small room surrounded by water channels, with this ambush ending with a fight with an illusioner. Upon defeating the ambush, the gate to the north-west will lower and a treasure room can be reached, which contains emerald urns, a fancy chest, and an obsidian chest. It also contains the exit door of the gauntlet which, if entered, ends the mission.

Trivia

• Like the missions in the Flames of the Nether DLC, Gauntlet of Gales has an opening voiceover but not an ending voiceover.
• Gauntlet of Gales uses two previously unused soundtracks from the Howling Peaks OST, Gale Sanctum and Scud.
• Gauntlet of Gales was originally Gauntlet Gales, a sub dungeon that would have spawned within Gale Sanctum, however the developers decided to make it a mission instead.^[1]
• The only instance where the song Scud is used is the ambush at the end of the mission. All other ambushes in this mission don't change the music.
