Story Mode:Exclusive features

This article is a work in progress.

Please help expand and improve it. The talk page may contain suggestions.

This is the list of features that are either completely new or derivative features that are available exclusively to Minecraft: Story Mode or Minecraft: Story Mode - Season Two. This does not pertain to characters or gameplay. It should also be noted that all textures that Minecraft: Story Mode used as a base have become outdated due to the Texture Update and almost all textures were also additionally modified.

Unique additions

These features are either features with completely new designs or concepts and are not derived from an existing design from Minecraft.

Blocks in the background

  • Coral
    • As Minecraft: Story Mode - Season Two was made before Update Aquatic, they wanted to use coral and oceanic flora for the surrounding waters of the Sea Temple. They contacted Nandonalt and asked him if they could use his mod Coral Reef in the game. He agreed and they used them with some color tweaks to fit.
  • Door
    • Doors don't position in blocks as they do in the base game. Doorframes create the illusion that they fit in the wall creating what looks like slabs on top and vertical slabs framing the doors.
    • Snowy Village Door
    • Town Fair Door A
    • Town Fair Door B
    • Town Fair Door C
    • Town Fair Door D
    • Town Fair Door E
    • Town Fair Door F
    • Town Fair Door G
    • Town Fair Door H
    • Town Fair Door I
    • Town Fair Door J
  • Prismarine Blocks
  • Lamp Blocks
    • These come in colors of blue, brown, and yellow.
  • Windows
    • Opaque blocks or textures with different patterns. These usually have dark and lighted states.
  • Black Witherstorm Block
  • Dark Purple Witherstorm Block
  • Purple Witherstorm Block
  • Witherstorm Ribs

Structures

  • Overworld Portal
    • Portals that differ in frame materials and portal block colors. Entering a portal from outside its designated Overworld transports the user to that Overworld. Entering it from within its designated Overworld redirects the user to the portal network.
    • The feature is notably similar to the portals composed of funky portal blocks from the April Fool's update 20w14∞.
  • Tower of the Warrior
  • Tower of the Builder

Sounds

  • Notably frog chirps in swamps, waterfall rushing, and wind. Similar to the unused audio loops.
  • Crafting Sound Effect
  • Alternative Lever and Piston Sounds

Visual effects

  • Armor Stand Light
  • Bloom Effect from Any Light
  • Reflective Texture of Water in Season Two
  • Waving Motion for Foliages

World features

  • Giant Coral
    • Large branching corals seen around the Sea Temple, built using orange and red wool to represent coral blocks.
  • Giant Seaweed
    • Large block-built seaweeds can be seen in the Doom Sea, built using green wool to represent seaweed blocks.
  • Palm Tree
    • A tree seen near Nell's house in Beacontown and along the shores of the Doom Sea. Built using jungle logs and jungle leaves, with the leaves having a 90° rotated texture.
  • Smaller Islands Surrounding the Main End Island
    • Season One was made before the Combat Update. Other than the main island being much smaller, there were other islands floating around it. The other islands have dark, blocky obsidian-like tentacles sticking out of them.

Altered designs

These are features that were taken from Minecraft that have simply been redesigned or modified and would not be considered separate from their derived feature.

Blocks

Altered models
  • Chest
  • Crafting Table
  • Furnace
  • Brewing Stand
  • Bookshelf

Altered textures

  • Blue Flower
    • A blue orchid with a dark green stem and unique bud placement.
  • Grass and Grass Block
    • These have color in their texture instead of a biome tint. This creates unique grass colors in certain biomes such as a yellow-green color and an orange variant both in the badlands as opposed to the usual brown; a brown-green color and a dark green color both in the swamp.
  • Packed Ice
    • This has a slightly dark outline in the edges of its texture.
  • Redstone Torch

Texture variation

  • Many of the blocks have varied textures on the same kind of block to enhance the environment. Some notable blocks that have variant textures include the bookshelf, stone, grass, sand, red sand, stone, and other exclusive blocks. Each texture file for the block using a varied texture is 256×256 pixels or 16×16 block faces.
    • A lot of the files (such as the buildings at EnderCon or the landscape in the overworld) use multiple block type textures in the same file.
  • Oak Bookshelf Texture Variation

  • White Jack o'Lantern
    • The white jack o'lantern's texture is actually blue to represent the darkness of the area and so it doesn't become confused with the White Pumpkin. The whole block glows and it's face is a pink color. This suggests it contains a redstone torch or that the inside is pink. These replace redstone lamps hanging from the ceiling after the lights go out.
  • White Pumpkin Stem. The white pumpkin stem is similar to a regular one. It's notably white and grows white pumpkins.
  • Dark Prismarine Brick

  • Pyramid Beacon Stone
  • Town Fair Stone Bricks A
  • Town Fair Stone Bricks B
  • Terracotta Stairs
    • Stair variants for terracotta (called hardened clay in the game files) and it's colors.
    • More hardened clay colors. The texture varies depending on the color sometimes resembling concrete or concrete powder. There is notably a proper white, a pine color, and tan.
  • Wool
    • Because Season One was made before the World of Color Update, most of the wool uses the old colors. However; it also uses a much broader spectrum of colors probably similar to how leather armor works, but they aren't often used. Notable colors are dark pink and golden. Despite Season Two updating the wool colors, the old ones are still used alongside the new ones.
