The withered nether star, also known as the wither storm nether star, is an item found in Minecraft: Story Mode. It was dropped by the wither storm and first appears in A Block and a Hard Place.

History

It was dropped by the wither storm after it was destroyed. Magnus or Ellegaard then gives it to Jesse who then places it on top of the stained glass of the center beacon, activating all the beacons at the same time. It was later shown to be in the Order Hall.

Properties

The withered nether star is much more powerful than a regular nether star. It has the ability to power at least nine beacons, shown when Jesse places it in the center of Beacontown's Rainbow Beacon. It also features a unique beacon beam that glows purple, ignoring the blue stained glass beneath it.

Trivia

  • In Order Up!, a normal nether star can also be seen on display inside the Order Hall.
  • Though there are beacons already placed on the pyramid in the center of Beacontown, they do not activate until the withered nether star is placed in the center.
    • The nether star is then removed as it is seen in the Order Hall in the episode Order Up!. The beacons seem unaffected by its absence.
  • The corrupted beacon from Minecraft Dungeons and the night beacon from Minecraft Legends bear a moderate resemblance to this item.
