The crafting system in Story Mode is done by placing the individual items onto the decorative 9-slot area, before the items shake and combine to create a valid item (if the combination is accepted and works.) The player can choose items to place and where to place them with no time limit.

Trivia

• At the beginning of episode 1, The Order of the Stone, Soren can be seen holding the amulet in front of a crafting table, presumably having created it.
• If Jesse decided to accompany Olivia to Redstonia, Ellegaard would be shown attempting to create a command block using a redstone machine with crafting tables. She nearly succeeded, but the wither storm arrived before it could be completed.
