In Minecraft: Story Mode, a mob refers to any creature that appear throughout the story.
In the game, mobs can be essential to the story and interact with the player, others serve as background elements or temporary obstacles. Unlike in the original Minecraft, where mobs are AI-driven, the mobs in Minecraft: Story Mode are scripted and designed to fit the narrative, or adding depth to the world. Characters also refer to these creatures as "mobs" in dialogue. For example, Olivia says, "Ugh, all these mobs. Where does it end?" during a QTE in Order Up!, and Jesse says, "LET GO! We're all just a bunch of happy mobs, right? LET GO!" in Access Denied.
Many of the mobs may have given names, defined personalities, and roles in the story, effectively making them characters.
There are several kinds of mobs exclusively found in Minecraft: Story Mode that are not present in Minecraft, the original game.
