Story Mode:Villagerese
Villagerese is a language spoken by villagers, such as Nurm.
Overview
Villagerese is predominately spoken by villagers, presumably being their common language. Due to their differing vocal chords, they are incapable of learning human languages, such as English.[1] However, humans are able to learn Villagerese if desired.[2]

Trivia
- A Minecraft.net article mentions Villager-ese.[3]
- A similar concept was brought up during Rise of the Arch-Illager, where villagers and illagers such as Archie are incapable of conversing with heroes due to a language barrier. However, the language is never named, so it's unclear whether Villagerese is spoken on the Mainland.
- In The Traveling Trader, the player is also able to speak with villagers. However, instead of a language barrier, this is treated as a supernatural ability bestowed by the Villager Spirit, who retracts it by the end of the campaign.
- This concept was brought up again in A Minecraft Movie, where Vice Principal Marlene learned to speak "Villager" and the nitwit learned English.
