Romeo, more commonly known as The Admin, is the main antagonist of Minecraft: Story Mode - Season Two. He was once good friends with Xara and Fred, but their conflicts eventually led to him killing Fred. He and his friends are said to be responsible for creating the Overworld.

Appearance

Romeo had the ability to take on different forms. The following titles are in order of first appearance.

Prismarine colossus

In Hero in Residence and Giant Consequences Romeo directly controlled one of the prismarine colossi.

Golem in a box

His golem in a box form appears to be a snow golem except he wears a top hat instead of a carved pumpkin and his bottom part resembles ice instead of snow. He also wears a blue coat with a light blue bow tie.

Golem in a box (Admin)

In Above and Beyond', his admin golem in a box form is similar to the normal golem in a box form, with the exception of all that was blue is colored red or black. Also, his arms are icy golem arms instead of sticks.

In this form he can create blue fireballs in a myriad of attacks.

Human disguise

Admin

Romeo's Admin form has red hair, black and glowing red clothing, gray skin, and glowing eyes with yellow pupils and red sclera.

Romeo also has Admin forms of other characters similar to his human disguises. Each resembles their respective character appearance, but with gray skin, black and glowing red "champion" clothing, and glowing eyes.

Human

After being defeated by Jesse and his/her team, Romeo lost his powers and enters his human form, with normal red hair and a beard, wearing a grey T-shirt and navy-blue pants. This form is the last he is shown to take, and potentially his final if left behind.

Personality

Romeo is somewhat mentally unstable, as noted by Jesse in Giant Consequences; and is very capricious and erratic, as seen when he threatens to burn the Sunshine Institute to the ground simply because Jesse does not obey when he tries to pit him/her against Jack/Petra. He is also childish at times, such as when he taunts Jesse as he's/she's going to attack him (in the prismarine colossus form) and how he thinks that he can make friends through force and deceit.

Romeo believes that those with power (or the strong, as he believes Jesse and himself to be) should rule over everything, while the weak (such as Radar and Jack, in his opinion) should be trampled underfoot.

Romeo was often in search of a champion, or a friend. When he chose Jesse, he posts many challenges for him/her, such as the Sea Temple, and the Icy Palace of Despair. However, he's willing to support those who, while not skilled, share his views, such as Stella. He believed that he should only make friends with the "strong" and that his "friends" should absolutely agree with his opinions, as seen when he tries to force Jesse to believe in his logic of the strong and the weak and when he wants Petra/Jack to prove her/his loyalty to him by attacking Jesse.

Although Romeo usually appears to be near-heartless, it is revealed in Below the Bedrock that he only wanted to keep the Admins together. He felt guilty for murdering Fred, meaning that he had good intentions for his later acts. This is further shown in Above and Beyond, where Romeo showed grief after Xara's death (determinant) and looked guilty for a moment at seeing Fred's hologram. He also showed a lot of misery at seeing the cabin that he and the other admins used to live in.

Eventually, after he loses his powers, Romeo realizes the errors of his ways. He offers to stay behind and determinantly sacrifices himself to save Jesse's gang. He can also be willing to return to the Underneath and "fix all the lives he ruined" to make up for his crimes (determinant).

Romeo will die if Radar stays with Jesse in the previous episode and if Jesse chooses to bring Romeo with them after his powers are taken. When a prismarine colossus appears leaving Jesse's gang trapped; Romeo runs to distract the colossus as Radar doesn't have the giant enderman chasing him which would have fought the colossus instead. This gives Jesse's group enough time to go through the portal. But before they go through, Romeo is seen being crushed by the colossus.

Another way for Romeo to die is if Jesse brings Binta up from the surface in Below the Bedrock and leaves Romeo behind in Terminal Space as it crumbles.

Quotes

There is a key difference between a good friend and a bad one.

Good friends do what you ask. They enjoy what you make for them. They never betray you.

Jesse is a perfect example of what we call a bad friend. Other 'bad friends' include, in no particular order: Fred, And Xara. Ultimately all losers who refused to appreciate the gifts they'd been given.

Now me? I won't stand for ingratitude. So I took my gifts away.

Oh, but then, then, just when I thought I'd found a promising new friend -- such a disappointment. That is when I had a brilliant idea. The perfect way to weed out the bad friends from the good. To be appreciated. I became Jesse.

I was right, of course. The plan worked immediately. Jesse's good friends flocked to me, the better Jesse. And now Jesse is trapped underground forever. One more ungrateful loser buried away.

The saddest part of all, really, is that Jesse will never get to see how much better I've made Beacontown. Oh, yes.

Romeo interpreting the events leading up to Above and Beyond.

Jesse. Slayer of the Wither Storm. Savior of Sky City. Liberator of Crown Mesa. The Old Builders' downfall. This world's champion. This world's mightiest hero. The most worthy. Worthiest in all the land.

Romeo to Jesse telepathically.

Not all adventurers are sword swingers, you know.

Romeo in his Vos form to Jesse's gang. (Determinant)

If you sit absolutely still, you’d be amazed at how long a stack of porkchops will last.

Romeo in his Vos form explaining how he survived in the obsidian cage. (Determinant)

YOU ARE RESILIENT, THOUGH SADLY... STILL MORTAL!!!

Romeo in his prismarine colossus from evaluating Jesse.

I PLACED EVERY BLOCK YOU EVER STOOD ON, AND I PROMISE, I WILL PLACE THE BLOCKS THAT COVER YOUR GRAVE!

Romeo in his prismarine colossus from threatening Jesse.

YOU FAIL, JESSE!

Romeo after smashing Jesse in his prismarine colossus form.

GREETINGS, TINY PEOPLE. I... AM THE ADMIN. SORRY, THAT WAS PROBABLY REALLY LOUD TO YOUR PATHETIC, TINY EARS.

Romeo in his prismarine colossus form to the Beacontown people.

FIGHTING IN BROAD DAYLIGHT IS BORING. LET'S ADD SOME... DRAMA.

Romeo in his prismarine colossus form changing the time of the day with the giant clock.

Why? Why?! Because it's fun, obviously. Why, this is gonna be epic!

Romeo in his snow golem form after Jesse asks why he's putting him/her and his/her friends through challenges.

You're insane!

Romeo in his Vos form to his snow golem form, deeming himself insane.

Okay, no, no, no, no, no, no. This is all wrong people, wrong. You're not suppose to help each other; the losers are supposed to lose!

Romeo in his golem in a box form to Jesse and the others.

You don't get it! I'm trying to separate the diamonds from the gravel here. Rubbish. Gets. Dumped.

Romeo in his golem in a box form to Jesse and the others.

Jack: Vos... the whole time?
Romeo: No, not the whole time, you nitwit, the real Vos would never have survived in my sea temple that long.

Romeo to Jack after transforming to his Admin form from his "Vos" disguise.

Oh... cute.

Romeo to Jesse, when Jesse draws out his/her enchanted diamond sword. (Determinant)

I'm done letting you make me feel bad. I prefer to feel good, and I'm going to feel real good when I send you two to a place where you'll never see the light of day. Ever. Again.

Romeo before teleporting Jesse and Jack/Petra to the Sunshine Institute.

I hope you're learning how to be a cooperative champion... You are all here, to be reminded of your potential. And I hope you will see it in yourself, as I do. Because if you don't... well... we'll cross that bridge if we come to it, 'ey? In the meantime, demonstrate your cooperative potential, and you just may become the ultimate champion!

Romeo's voice recording in the Sunshine Institute.

Hello, Guests and Associates! Admin here with a reminder: helping others will only drag YOU down. Losers are supposed to lose. Say it with me now, 'losers are supposed to lose.' Right. Let that be your mantra. Good day!

Another one of Romeo's recordings in the Sunshine Institute.

Augh... All I asked you to do is fight your friend to the death and you can't. even. do. THAT? I don't even want you to be my friend anymore, And I don't want YOU to be my friend either. ... Guess I'll just be my own friend now.

Romeo after pitting Jesse with Jack/Petra.

After all... everyone loves Jesse, right?... You coming?... Stella is just the beginning. Your others friends will fall in line, too. Lukas, Axel, Olivia... all of them. Don't worry. I'll take good care of Beacontown.

Romeo after transforming to disguise as Jesse.

Run, run, run Jesse... as fast as you can. Hahahahaha!

Romeo (disguised as Jesse) at the epilogue of Jailhouse Block.

Oooh! Wow! What a showdown, folks! We're having the time of our lives, aren't we?

Romeo's recording in the Challenge Room.

Now, prepare yourselves for STAGE SIX HUNDRED!

Romeo's recording in the Challenge Room.

Whole new set of people, a whole new world... I'll be a great leader, a great friend, next time around. I should thank you for all these wonderful little lessons you've helped me learn. Oh! Maybe-- maybe I'll have more fjords in the next one. Love a good fjord. I wonder if there's a way to make the next set of people any friendlier...

Romeo to Jesse.

I told you-- your world's done! No takebacks!

Romeo to Jesse in the Terminal Space.

I don't know what you're playing at, but it ends... NOW!... I said it ends... NOW! I... what? I’m... Oh... You think you're very clever don't you? Well how about we finish this with a little change of scenery?

Romeo to Jesse realizing that his power is being weakened.

No... I this is impossible! No one gets to make me small! I can't... Why do I feel so... (Jesse: powerless?)

Romeo in his "Vos" disguise losing his ability to become large.

My power....it was just frosting on a cake. An empty, worthless cake.

Romeo to Jesse after losing his powers.

Oi, Stone Face! Over here! I'm the one you want-- come and get it!

Romeo to the prismarine colossus, sacrificing himself to save Jesse and the others. (Determinant)

I- Thank you, sincerely. I hardly believe I deserve to be here at all anymore. I know what I need to do to make up my crimes, though. I'm going to return to the underneath, fix all the lives I ruined. And I'm going to find Xara, see if I can't make things right between us. Now it doesn't make up for what I did to Fred, but if I can heal things with Xara, it's something at least.

Romeo to Jesse and the others, telling them his plan. (Determinant)

Trivia

  • Romeo in his admin form (along with the other admins) was inspired by the Tron franchise.[1]
