Daniel Robert Middleton (born November 8, 1991), better known by his online pseudonyms DanTDM and The Diamond Minecart, is an English YouTuber known for creating showcases of mods. His videos feature an assortment of different characters, including a villager scientist named Dr. Trayaurus and a skeleton wolf named Grim.
Due to his popularity within the community, he has collaborated with Mojang Studios several times, most notably playing a fictionalized version of himself in Minecraft: Story Mode.
In the Minecraft franchise
Minecraft: Story Mode
Within the game, he portrays himself in the episode A Portal to Mystery, alongside several other popular creators. His character becomes intertwined with a series of murders connected to the villain the White Pumpkin, where his role in the story can change depending on the player's choices.
Minecon
Prior to that, he hosted an exclusive episode of his Custom Mod Adventures series at MINECON 2015.[1] He has also made appearances in a Blockbench demonstration at Minecraft Live 2022 and the pre-show for Minecraft Live 2024, the latter of which he later reviewed on his channel.[2][3]
A Minecraft Movie
In 2025, he made a cameo appearance in A Minecraft Movie alongside several other creators as auction attendees at an auction for Steve's belongings, which leads to Garrett Garrison discovering the Earth Cube.[4][5] Prior to officially being confirmed to appear, he and his co-stars alluded to being in New Zealand during filming.[6][7]
Trivia
- Although he has worked with Mojang Studios several times, he has also created media with his characters unaffiliated with Minecraft, most notably Trayaurus and the Enchanted Crystal.
- Similarly, the vinyl figure company Yootooz has produced a figure of him stylized after Glamrock Freddy, a character from another video game franchise he associates with, Five Nights at Freddy's.[8]
- Prior to officially working with Mojang, Dan participated in a contest to create a video promoting Java Edition 1.3.1.[9] His video would end up winning, becoming featured in The Weekly Chunk.
