The flint and steel is a usable item in Minecraft: Story Mode, capable of starting fires.
History
Jesse finds one in one of his chests in his treehouse. They later would use this to activate the Nether portal at Gabriel's temple. If Jesse does not light the portal, Petra angrily grabs it and does it herself.
Later in Soren's fortress, Jesse mistakenly pulls out his flint and steel instead of the amulet.
In the Far Lands, Jesse uses his flint and steel again to activate the flying machine to get across a huge chasm.
In Jailhouse Block, the warden is surrounded by prisoners, he threatens to blow up TNT. After seeing Jesse, Xara, and the others, Xara kills him, dropping his TNT and flint and steel. The flint and steel was later picked up by Rob.
Properties
When struck, the item can either activate Nether portals or ignite fires.
