The Overworld is the main setting of A Minecraft Movie. It is an alternate dimension to Earth where everything is made out of blocks.
Geography
The Overworld is a diverse dimension filled with many biomes, bearing a noticeable resemblance to Earth. Scattered throughout lush groves are trees and plants, made out of perfect cubes of varying sizes, with flowers being depicted as both cuboids and Earth-like species. Surrounding many of the biomes, the majority temperate, are mountains, including volcanoes.
Strewn about the land are several structures, much like in the game, as well as many new constructs unique to the film. Most prominent to the plot are the Earth Portal and Midport Village, but small structures such as a dock, statues in the shape of villager heads, and a ginormous frog have also been seen.
Biography
At some point in the past, Steve first entered and made his home in the Overworld after discovering and activating a portal deep within the mines of Earth. After appearing in the middle of a plains biome, he would go on many adventures and build structures.
Several years later, Henry, Dawn Runcie, Natalie, and Garrett Garrison are sent to the Overworld and appear through the same portal that Steve came from.
