The Earth portal[1] is a type of portal that exists in A Minecraft Movie. In the film, it connects Earth to the Overworld, and is used by all of the film's main cast of characters.
Appearance
The portal closely resembles a Nether portal, possessing the same obsidian frame. The biggest difference is the portal itself, which is colored cyan as opposed to purple.
History
At some point in the past, Steve discovered the portal after fulfilling a lifelong dream of working as a miner. After activating it by using a mysterious cube he found in the mines, he would be transported to the Overworld in the middle of a plains biome, where he would learn about the Overworld and embark on many adventures.
Several years later, Henry, Dawn Runcie, Natalie, and Garrett Garrison would be sent to the Overworld themselves through the same portal as Steve. A nitwit entered it after the misfits arrived.
Trivia
- A similar design was previously possible to create in Java Edition 20w14∞, using a funky portal.
- A similar plot point was present in the Minecraft Mini-Series, where the villain Poseidon had plans of using the enchanted ender eyes to invade the Overworld. Since the show features the Greek Isles, presumably meant to be Greece, it can be inferred that the series is set on Earth.
