In other media

Sometime during the events of the game, a hero wearing turtle armor saves a few captured turtles in the radiant ravine alongside their pet baby turtle.[1]

While the baby turtle can seemingly float in the air instead of swim when in a land-based mission, this is most likely just to make gameplay easier rather than being some hidden lore; in a video posted on Twitter, the baby turtle is seen crawling and hiding in its shell on the ground to avoid being trampled by a zombie horde,[2] showing that it does not actually float im the air as part of the lore.
