Charles Batchelor (born August 9, 1993), better known by his online pseudonym Grian, is an English YouTuber known for his friendship with Mumbo Jumbo and participation on the Hermitcraft server.
In the Minecraft franchise
To promote the release of Minecraft Earth, a series of videos starring Mumbo and Grian were produced.[1] To assist with the production, a special skin pack was given to them; the game lacked the ability to import skins directly.
In 2019, to celebrate the culmination of one trillion views on Minecraft content, Grian made a cameo appearance in two separate cinematics. In 2022, he collaborated with Mojang Studios to recreate Corfe Castle to celebrate ancient cities.[2][3] The following year, he was given early access to Minecraft Legends.[4]
In 2024, a copy of the world used for Season 9 of Hermitcraft was released on the Marketplace, in collaboration with "the Marketplace people."[5][6] The following year, the world from Season 8 was also released.[7] For the 15 Days of Minecraft, an event was held in Alexandra Palace, London where a large cube was placed and could be decorated using magnets.[8] Grian helped with the process, appearing in a video.[9] Later in the year, he participated in the Ender Cup, under the team the Lime Lllamas, alongside Daniel Middleton.
In 2025, he released a video promoting Spring to Life.[10]
Events
In 2016, Grian appeared at a panel for MINECON.[11]
In 2025, he was invited to try out happy ghasts for Minecraft LIVE.[12]
Trivia
- In 2015, Grian volunteered for the Java Realms Content Creator Program, releasing a map known as TNT Run.[13] This went on to become a very popular minigame, used on servers such as Hypixel.[14][15][16]
- In 2017, Grian was invited over to Mojang's headquarters.[17]
- A tutorial of his for large scale builds was showcased in an article on Minecraft.net.[18] Another article linked a "classic" from him about a haunted house build.[19][20]
