The Spooky Mansion is a location in Minecraft: Story Mode that appeared in A Portal to Mystery. It is owned by the serial killer known as the White Pumpkin and is accessed by the golden mansion portal from the Portal Network.
History
After Cassie Rose has been kicked by the Old Builders into the Overworld the mansion was located in,[1] she built the mansion before the events of A Portal to Mystery.
As Jesse, Ivor, Lukas, and Petra defended themselves against the zombies, they arrived at the front of the mansion. Jesse observed a figure through the window, which was assumed to be the host who had invited them. They entered the mansion through a second-floor window by constructing a staircase to reach it. Upon entering, they found themselves in the kitchen, where they met Captain Sparklez and TorqueDawg. After their conversation, the lights suddenly went out, and TorqueDawg was struck by poison-tipped arrows. His items were pulled into a hole in the floor.
Shortly thereafter, LDShadowLady arrived to get Sparklez and TorqueDawg. She recognized Jesse and the others, instructing them to follow her to learn more.
The group then encountered Cassie Rose and Winslow, and they entered a large room with paintings on the walls. Each painting depicted the people who had arrived at the mansion, and the likenesses were accurate, with the exception of Lukas', which featured a red nose that caused him some annoyance. TorqueDawg’s portrait had a red cross marked on it. Jesse also observed the portraits of DanTDM, Stacy Plays, and Stampy Cat.
The group then proceeded to the dining room, where introductions were made. Sparklez announced TorqueDawg’s death, and the group reacted in various ways. Some displayed suspicion, prompting Jesse to investigate further. After a while, Sparklez was killed.
In the living room, Sparklez’s portrait was found to be crossed out, alongside TorqueDawg’s. Ivor speculated that he might be the next target, as his portrait was located after the two. After investigating the dining room again, Jesse discovered evidence, narrowing the suspects down to Stampy, Lukas, Lizzie, and Dan. Jesse then had the opportunity to interrogate Dan, Lizzie, and Stampy in the library to learn more about the situation.
After the interrogations of Dan, Lizzie and Stampy, Cassie brings Lukas into the room and suggests that Jesse interrogate him as well. Jesse, however, believes Lukas is uninvolved. All of the guests then gather in the living room, where Jesse has the opportunity to accuse someone. Accusing Dan, Lizzie, or Stampy results in the accused individual being locked in the library.
Jesse, Petra, and Ivor then decide to investigate the kitchen while Lukas remains in the living room to monitor the others. In the kitchen, Jesse notices a painting with visible eyeholes. Punching through the painting reveals a secret passageway and a lever. Activating the lever triggers the mechanism that killed TorqueDawg. The group follows the passageway, eventually arriving behind a painting in the library, where they observe the locked-up individual.
After the murder in the library, Jesse then pursues the White Pumpkin through the secret passageways, leading to the living room, where Lukas joins the chase. The chased failed, and everyone gathered in the lounge.
After investigating the passageways one last time, Jesse, Petra, and Stampy gather enough evidence to identify the White Pumpkin. However as the confrontation with murderer went, the murdered trigger one of her traps seemingly killing her.
With the ordeal resolved, the survivors leave the mansion as sunlight burns away the zombies. The Order of the Stone parts ways with the others. Jesse notices a portal in the distance, and Ivor speculates that Cassie might have been a member of the Old Builders. When Jesse attempts to ignite the portal, it fails, and Winslow appears, revealing that the portal is fake. The ground collapses beneath them, sending Jesse and the others into a new predicament, with Winslow following close behind.
Location
The mansion is a large house located in a dimension with two moons, a swamp biome, and many zombies and spiders, along with a few other types of monsters.
Architecture
The mansion appears to be an extremely large building made out of mainly wood, nether bricks, and stone. The interior has many rooms including a kitchen, dining room, library, living room and others. The whole mansion is lined with secret passageways and booby traps. The front of the mansion features a wooden balcony and numerous sea lanterns used for lighting. The White Pumpkin possibly built it.
Points of interest
Guests' portraits
All of the guests at the Spooky Mansion have portraits on the wall. When a guest is killed, the guest has their portrait replaced with the same portrait of them with a large red "X" painted over their image. Cassie Rose does not have a "dead" version of her portrait. Lukas's portrait has a big round nose instead of his normal nose for an unknown reason. Cassie has a portrait of her propping herself on a diamond sword, a weapon that she is never pictured using elsewhere.
