A bucket is a useful tool, used for carrying liquids such as water and lava.

Appearance

Buckets are metal objects in the shape of a cylinder, slightly larger than a human head. Due to the square properties of the Overworld, it is depicted made out of various cubes, with angular edges instead of curves. The handle is similar, being in an arch with a cuboid handle. Water contained inside is a bright blue, similar to ocean water, only reflecting the light and not the bucket itself.

Properties

When filled with water, they can be used to create a colossal puddle, allowing one to survive massive falls. This appears to require the user to shout the word "RELEASE," instead of merely chucking the bucket.

When filled with lava, they can be tipped over, spilling the contents. The lava inside appears to be compress space, with around 8 meters of lava being contained and rapidly flowing out of a single bucket. Due to lava's existing properties, it can be incredibly volatile and burn anything it touches.

History

Following the attack on Midport Village, Steve, Garrett, and Henry ended up in a dire strait. They attempted to glide away from the piglin army, but quickly got lured into a trap. Several piglins chased Steve and Garrett into a very narrow area, attempting to either catch them in a large net or burn them alive using a lava bucket spilling its contents. In order to escape, Steve and Garrett analyzed each other's bodies until they found the necessary positions to fit through a hole.

After escaping the invaders, all three ended up lumped together by a stray firework rocket, propelling out of the sky into a jungle. In order to get them out of this situation, Steve revealed that he had a bucket of water on hand, explaining it could be used to help them land. This created a major splash in the jungle, bothering several pandas, but luckily the three heroes survived and assessed where to go from there.

Later, after retrieving a second Earth Crystal from the Woodland Mansion, Malgosha appeared with an army of seekers and ghasts. Claiming the Orb of Dominance for herself, Garrett made a noble sacrifice to protect his friends, helping them escape the destruction of a bridge. It appeared he died in the explosion, however he later made a triumphant return riding another one of the ghasts. When asked how he survived, he explained he used the same water bucket technique as Steve.

Trivia

• The use of the water bucket to cushion a fall is a reference to an actual technique in Minecraft.
  • However, this move is rather different from how it's presented in the film. Typically it is performed by using the water bucket seconds before colliding with the ground, due to water nullifying fall damage. In the film, Steve fires a blast of water onto the ground from a distance, and it dissipates upon being touched.
• It's unknown how Garrett managed to get a bucket. However, prior in the film it was established he had skills with pick-pocketing, easily stealing the Orb of Dominance without Henry noticing. Presumably, he used Steve's actual bucket.
