Tutorial:Goat farming
This tutorial teaches the player how to farm goats and goat horns items.
Purpose

Goat horns are items that can be dropped by goats when they ram their heads into certain blocks. They can be used to play loud sounds that can be heard from far away. There are eight types of goat horns, each with a unique sound. Four of them are exclusive to screaming goats, which are a rare variant of goats. By farming goats, you can obtain all of the eight goat horn types.
Goat farming

Goats may be bred by giving two goats wheat. The more goats, the more often you can get a goat to ram. 5% of all goats spawned are babies, which must grow up before they can ram. They can be fed wheat to speed up their growth. Additionally, 2% of goats are screaming goats; they are more aggressive and ram more often. Screaming goats provide four types of goat horns, while regular goats provide another four types of goat horns.
Tips and info
- The distance from the goat: Goats only ram unmoving mobs that they can see within a range of 4 to 16 blocks. If you are too far or too close to a goat, it will not ram you.
- Goats only ram targets that have been stationary for a few seconds.
- The cooldown time: Goats have a random cooldown time between 30 to 300 seconds before they can ram again. This means that you might have to wait for a long time before a goat decides to ram you.
- Also note that both horns from any goat will be the same variant.
Goat horns

The basics of making a goat farm is as follows:
- Finding two goats in a mountain biome. They are attracted to wheat, so you can use it to lure them to your desired location.
- Building an enclosure for the goats using fences or blocks. Make sure to leave a gate or a door for access. Also add a roof to prevent the goats from jumping out, as they can and will jump up to six blocks.
- Breeding the goats by feeding them wheat. They will enter love mode and produce a baby goat. You can repeat this process to increase the number of goats in your farm.
- Collecting goat horns by making the goats ram into solid blocks. You can use a mob or a player as bait and place a block in front of the goat at the last moment. The goat will drop a horn if it hits the block.
