General Chungus was a leading officer of the piglin army, responsible for instigating a battle which ravaged Midport Village.

Appearance

The general vaguely resembles a piglin brute or portal guard, being a larger than average piglin wearing black. Unlike the original brutes, he is depicted wearing armor, presumably made of netherite, trimmed with gold. On his chest is a bulky collar, his chest being readily exposed, with a golden snout symbol in the center, while on his head is a netherite helmet with a gold streak and black spikes. His arms are covered in bandages and ropes, with thick fingers and black nails. On his waist is a large belt, with a skeleton skull as a belt buckle, missing its lower jaw, also seems to be larger than the other piglins.

Personality

Contrasting the other piglins, General Chungus possesses a gentle voice and appears to be relaxed and calm, not being enthusiastic about the order to kill Steve. Nonetheless, he is described as being "terrifying" and having a "cruel mouth", causing nearby piglins to cower before him as he moved by them.^[2] In addition, Steve calls him a "ruthless murderer", and he is shown to be petty, needlessly ordering his forces to smash crops harvested by villagers.

Powers and abilities

The general possesses a long sword made of netherite, which enables him to attack opponents in the short range and use a special spin attack.

Being a piglin, he is vulnerable to becoming zombified from suffocating without the presence of nether warts. During the invasion, he was the first to be gifted the potion, and appeared to have ingested slightly more than his comrades, never showing any signs of decay.

Biography

During Steve's time in Malgosha's captivity, Chungus often attended his "mean dungeon" parties,^[2] developing a positive opinion of Steve and an attachment to the jingle of Steve's Lava Chicken!

General Chungus first appears when called upon by Malgosha, who gives him the order to kill Steve during an attack on Midport Village. Chungus is not enthusiastic about the orders but makes little effort to avoid going through with them, which he does shortly after.

During the attack on Midport Village, Garrett Garrison attempts to combat Chungus with his Buck-Chuckets, but Chungus is unphased by the attempts and defeats Garrett easily. Shortly after though, an iron golem effortlessly defeats Chungus by hitting him far away from Midport Village.

Later, Chungus is seen in the Nether with Malgosha, who scolds him for his failures. Chungus does not understand why the piglins must, as he says, "unalive" Steve. This confusion angers Malgosha, who orders the Great Hog to kill Chungus, which he blasts him by using his arm cannon.

• The name Chungus is potentially a reference to the internet meme Big Chungus, referring to a comical imitation of Looney Tunes antagonist Elmer Fudd by Bugs Bunny in the cartoon Wabbit Twouble.^[6]
