Daryl is a supporting character who appears in A Minecraft Movie, played by Jemaine Clement. He is Garrett's friend and an auctioneer.
Appearance
Daryl is a middle-aged man, with visibly grayed curly hair and a full mustache. He is wearing a white straw hat and sunglasses, on top of a dark gray T-shirt.
Personality
Daryl is shown to be admirative towards Garrett, displaying a strong desire to be able to hang out with him. He appears to even hold romantic feelings for him, with Garrett remarking to keep his affection "in his pants." However, his love for the storage community is stronger than his admiration for Garrett, and appears greatly offended at Garrett destroying a storage unit when it doesn't have what he wants.
Biography
Daryl is an auctioneer in Chuglass. He oversees the auction of a storage unit containing Steve's belongings from his former home on Earth. The items up for sale include a water pan, pickaxes, a large can, mixed nuts, several unisex turquoise blouses, and a 1978 Atari Cosmos. Garrett, interested in the Atari Cosmos so he can resell it to pay off his debts, asks Daryl to keep the winning bid low. In return, he promises to make Daryl's "weird fanboy dreams come true", specifically spending time with him while wearing the unisex turquoise blouses to "cause a commotion" among ladies.
The auction begins at $500, and Garrett wins it for $900. However, upon discovering that the Atari Cosmos box is empty, he angrily trashes the entire storage unit. This infuriates Daryl, who accuses Garrett of having no respect for the storage community.
