| — Guide to Minecraft Dungeons: A Handbook for Heroes |
Chains is an enchantment that can be found within the various melee weapons of Minecraft Dungeons.
Obtaining
Chains has a chance to appear in any enchantment slot on a melee weapon. Enchantments on items can be swapped out for Chains by rerolling them at the enchantsmith.
Tiers
| Tier | Effect | Cost | Cost ( |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | 1 second duration | 1 enchantment point | 2 enchantment points |
| II | 2 seconds duration | 2 enchantment points | 3 enchantment points |
| III | 3 seconds duration | 3 enchantment points | 4 enchantment points |
Built-into
Chains tier I is built-into the following weapons:
Mobs
Mobs cannot be enchanted with Chains.
Stacking
Chains is stackable, meaning it can appear in multiple enchantment slots on an item, although there are exceptions. If Chains is the built-in unique enchantment of an item it will never be able to appear in the gilded slot or other enchantment slots by any means. If Chains appears in the gilded slot of an item it will never appear in the other three enchantment slots, however by rerolling the item's enchantments using the enchantsmith, Chains has the chance to appear even if it appears in the gilded slot.
Usage
Any melee weapon enchanted with Chains allows the hero to bind multiple mobs together. Although chained mobs may still attack heroes in close proximity, they are rooted in place for the duration of the effect. The duration of the effect increases with each tier, at the highest tier the effect lasts for three seconds.
Stacking
When stacked, Chains has a multiplicative effect, meaning each extra Chains will have its effect duration multiplied by the last.
