Windows 7 is a consumer/desktop operating system of the Windows NT family released by Microsoft in 2009. Its server counterpart, Windows Server 2008 R2, was released at the same time.

Ubuntu can exist peacefully alongside Windows 7 on laptops and desktops, or be used to replace it all together. Neither Ubuntu nor Ubuntu Phone are compatible to mobile devices that shipped with Windows Phone 7.
