The Nether is a dangerous, hell-like dimension featured in Minecraft: Story Mode, used as a nexus to travel between several locations in the Overworld.
History
The Nether was utilized by the Order of the Stone to travel between each member's territory using a network of minecarts.
In The Order of the Stone, at Gabriel's Temple, Jesse, Olivia, Axel, and Lukas entered a Nether portal. While waiting for Gabriel or Petra to follow, Ivor arrived instead. After a heated exchange, Ivor revealed that the Order had constructed a minecart network connecting their territories. Following this, Ivor drank an invisibility potion, and the group was alerted by the sound of a ghast. They used the minecart system to escape, encountering obstacles such as ghasts, skeletons, and redstone contraptions. Eventually, they reached a portal leading to the Order's temple.
In Assembly Required, Jesse and Axel/Olivia used the Nether minecart system to travel to Boom Town/Redstonia. During their journey, they encountered a ghast, which Jesse defeated with ease. Meanwhile, the companion Jesse left behind traveled to the other destination.
In A Journey's End?, Lukas and Ivor/Petra mined in the Nether after being eliminated from a spleef match.
Geography
Location
The Nether exists parallel to an Overworld and can be accessed through a Nether portal. Five known Nether portals are shown in the game, including one at Gabriel's temple, one in temple of the Order, one in Boom Town, one in Redstonia, and one in the competitor village.
Points of interest
Nether fortresses
Several of them are seen while they are travelling, though none of the characters are shown venturing into them.
Nether minecart network
The Order of the Stone built them to travel between each member's territory and to their temple for the Order. The new Order of the Stone also used them.
