Salah is a farmer villager and leader of the Squid Coast village. He appears in The Rise of the Arch-Illager and uses masculine pronouns.
Appearance
Salah is a villager who is described wearing a wide-brimmed hat and clothing streaked with sweat and dirt. He also once brandished a garden hoe to threaten Archie, which clearly marked him as a farmer.
Personality
Since his first appearance in the novel, Salah has disliked Archie for being an illager. He openly shows his dislike for Archie, and continues to insist on his refusal of Archie to stay in the village where he lives.
Biography
Salah was a resident of the village that Archie took refuge in for a time. While he disagreed with Yumi about taking Archie in, he eventually relented and allowed him to stay, with Yumi mentioning that they should treat Archie the same wat they treat Salah’s cousins when they occationally visit.[1] Despite disliking Archie and the illagers, it is mentioned that he eventually had conversations with Archie about the illagers as a whole, showing that he seemed to have a genuine curiosity about the philosophy of the illagers and why they raid villages. However, his curiosity didn’t stop him from taking the first opportunity he saw to get rid of Archie. He is responsible for getting Smacker’s attention and provoking a short fight between the arrogant hero and Archie, resulting in Yumi getting hurt and Archie punching the hero. Salah and the other villagers ultimately decided that Archie should be banished from the village to avoid upsetting the trade agreements they have with the heroes.
