Questions tagged [remote-control]

For questions related to the remote control of devices and the design of remote controls.

"remote" means distant, and remote-controlling means "control" something from a distance, without any electrical or physical contact to the device-to-control. (Quite similar to Wireless... i.e. no-wire. However the term Wireless transmission commonly used for radio-waves).

However, a remote-control system not necessarily use radio-wave-signal, it can use infrared(IR)-signal, or many-other type of signal.

Just like wireless-radio-transmission, remote-controling also have similar steps, like 1. Input on remote controller by user-> 2. Signal-generation -> 3. Signal radiation or transmission -> 4. Sensing the signal on the remote controlled gadget -> 5. decode the signal -> action or required-change on machine.

"Inverse rc" impulse response circuit

I am a digital design engineer and am struggling to come up with an analog circuit that could produce an (RC) curve like below. It does not have to be an exact RC curve. Something that comes close would do perfectly fine. Thanks, Robert

Making my own 38kHz remote

The issue I am having is it appears many modern remotes don't have a 38kHz carrier frequency for the infrared signal. I would get inconsistent readings using an TSOP 1738. Since the remotes you can buy as a kit are always cheap and ugly, how hard is…
