No sound - only "Dummy output" (sound) in Ubuntu 20.04 on reformatted Pixelbook

Question

Some time ago I installed Ubuntu 20.04 (after removing ChromeOS) from a Google PixelBook. Just this week the sound (which worked fine before) stopped working: speakers, headphones, internal microphone all don't work. Specifically, I'm running:

Advice/suggestions would be appreciated! I know that this question has been asked before (e.g. here and other places), but none of these steps seem to work for me.

A full dump of diagnostics is below, but in short: the only clearly FAILED diagnostics (to me) seem to be:

Sound/microphone don't work
"Dummy output" is only output option in the (Settings > Sound) GUI.
Entering pacmd list-cards yields 0 card(s) available.
Attempting sudo alsa force-reload just causes the computer to freeze; I have to reboot.
