According to Wikipedia the formula used to predict gravitational lensing of the Sun during the Eddington experiment is $4GM/c^2b$. It says
"$b$ can be interpreted as the distance of closest approach".
Is there a better explanation of the impact parameter $b$, and a better explanation of the formula in general, including how to convert the result to 1.75 arc seconds?
