Questions tagged [treats]

A reward, generally a snack, given to a pet; used to train positive reinforcement of preferred behavior.

Treats are items or actions desired by and given to pets in order to reward them with a positive experience.

Treats, when used for positive reinforcement training, are generally small edible items, such as a pet-specific snack, a small amount of extra food, or even human meat; something the pet would prefer to have, over and above their usual food.

Less common definitions of treat include providing a toy or excessive consumable (a "loaded" bone or bag of catnip) desired by the pet, or simply attention in the form of petting or active playtime.
