Shedding tag is used to describe the natural loss of hair and fur from animals as part of their general lifecycle. Questions tagged shedding may include asking why and when this occurs, and how to cope with situations.

Shedding skin and feathers for reptiles and birds is more commonly referred to as "molting" (of which the act of shedding is one stage of the overall process) and are handled under the tag.
