Minecarts are the only form of transportation (besides walking) in Minecraft Earth. They will only move when on rails (unless the minecart was on rails, and then suddenly was not, then the minecart would continue moving for a couple blocks before coming to a stop) and are damaged by activator rails, and make detector rails send out a redstone signal. Powered rails will also make a minecart move it the player is now physically moving forward. This is true in regular Minecraft, and, therefore, true in Minecraft Earth.
