Replace the Engine, rebuild, or just put on new rings
I've got a 2006 Mazda MPV that ran without oil for a few minutes and the engine locked up. The engine is noisy and weak but runs okish when cold. Once up to operating temp it visibly burns oil and will die at stop lights. Oil pressure is fine. …

Is it really necessary to resurface cylinder and substitute piston?
I believe this is common in motorcycle maintenance, I have heard in some places that, once you get the piston outside the cylinder there is no way back, you need to resurface the cylinder and get a new piston and seals, can I trust this?

Can I remove head off 2002 Altima 2.5 and just hone cylinders to help improve compression
Have a 160,000 mile Altima 2.5 blowing oil. Compression is around 120 across the cylinders. Valve seals fine.I do not want to spend much on this old vehicle. Takes me less than hour to remove head and get to piston walls and not taking pistons out…

How are compression rings lubricated?
My question relates to the lubrication of cylinder walls and piston rings. It is my understanding that pistons in cars consists of 3 rings; two compression rings and the oil/scraper ring.
As far as I've read, the cylinder walls are only lubricated…
