Established 1945 after WWII started as a manufacturer of bicycles and moved onto to build scooters and small displacement motorcycles.

Despite being a rather small company in the world of motorcycles Aprilia has contested and won a vast quantity of world titles in various grand prix and superbike world championships over the years. In 2010 Aprilia reached it's 276th grand prix racing victory making it the most successful motorcycle racing manufacturer in history.

Current models that have achieved wide success include the RSV two cylinder 1,000cc platforms such as the Mille and the Tuono. Recently Aprilia depricated the two-cylinder Rotax engine and implemented the RSV4, a v-four configured platform with 16 valves and DOHC.
