Background: I come from Europe and am a political science major who is currently looking to get a position in a legal firm as an assistant/paralegal, with goal of acquiring as much experience as I can. My goal is to eventually become a court interpreter for English for my language and Russian, and possibly a contract creator, or something similar.

Question: I am trying to find some course online that would cover the basics of legal English, must-know terms, phrases and concepts in legal profession that everybody who wants to do this job needs to know. I found this https://cambridgelawstudio.co.uk/contract-drafting-in-english-for-international-lawyers/ and I like it, however I want to explore more options and see what kinds of offers exist.

If anyone can help me, you are welcome!

There is only one preference (not a must) that I allowed myself to have-it would be nice if the course would deal with continental law, since i do not inhabit Anglosphere.

In England and Wales, aspiring solicitors must pass the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE). There are a number of textbooks available to buy online (and other free online resources) to help learn the material for the exam. While buying all of the textbooks would certainly be overkill in your case, using some of these resources may be a helpful start.

I will avoid providing links to any particular textbook. However, if you are interested in contract law terminology (given the contract-law tag), you can either search for "SQE Contract law book" or "SQE Contract law online resources" to find a lot of helpful content. These will be beginner-friendly revision manuals (which will be more manageable than a comprehensive textbook).

You also mention continental law, so perhaps you would be interested in reading more into SQE textbooks on "constitutional law" or the "English legal system". These will also give some attention to EU law as a precursor to the important content on the impact of Brexit (in your case, you’ll probably want to skip the latter).
