So, this is my first time using Linux, and I wanted to download OpenJDK for Java. When I ran sudo apt install openjdk-21-jdk-headless, i received messages on update dependencies. Here's one of them:

update-alternatives: using /usr/lib/jvm/java-21-openjdk-amd64/bin/jar to provide /usr/bin/jar (jar) in auto mode

Does anyone know what this means, and what I can do to fix them? Thanks in advance.

There is nothing to fix regarding the message shown in the question. The message is not related to dependencies.

The message is expected:

update-alternatives: using /usr/lib/jvm/java-21-openjdk-amd64/bin/jar to provide /usr/bin/jar (jar) in auto mode

It is neither an error nor a warning.

Apparently, more than one package can provide /usr/bin/jar, and update-alternatives is the normal mechanism to switch between the alternatives.
