Thinkpad L14 with German keyboard is missing keys for pipe, "less", "greater". They should be left to "y" I tried several layouts from Ubuntu Settings. I could not get these symbols in any sense. Can anyone help me find the right layout?

Karel: Perhaps 'cheat' and use the 'Characters' utility? "Less than" is U+003C -- hold down CTRL SHIFT U, release (should see an underscored lower-cased 'u'), then 003c (type in 'regular' -- does not matter if use the numbers on the main keyboard or NumPad. Enter or space to complete.

You might be able to remap a key to make entering the character easier, or memorize the code. (I have a bunch on a notepad.)
