This question is a fork from Which options for self-publish large book with Print on demand, bible paper and hardcover?

First question here: what options is there for printers who will do custom sizes with bible paper, ideally with sewn binding, rather than adhesive-based "perfect" binding ?

My concerns are mainly similar to the above question, except that it doesn't need to be POD.

  • Acid-free bible paper
  • Sturdy binding options
  • Hard or flex cover, rather than paperback
  • Support for RTL text

Does anyone have any recommendations for printers who have these options (or the majority of the above preferences, if not all are available) ?

The usual procedure for commissioning a printing company to produce a custom book is:

  1. Select a number of offset printers. Criteria could be that they are near you or cheap or whose products you are familiar with (e.g. the printers of the books you own; the printer is usually named on the copyright page).
  2. Discuss with them what you want. If you don't know the proper terminology, show them a physical example of the end product you are after. They will show you samples of the paper they have etc. You can always pay more, if you want them to buy materials (such as special paper) specifically for you.
  3. Get a quote.
  4. Decide on one printer based on your criteria (price, quality, eco-friendliness etc.).

Don't forget that you will need to store and ship your book. The printer will not do that for you.
