I'm a poetry learner looking for a platform that allows me to share my work securely with a small group for feedback while preventing plagiarism. Specifically, I need a platform that:

  • Allows controlled access (so only selected people can view my work).

  • Provides tools to prove authorship and deter plagiarism.

  • Encourages poetry discussions and feedback.

I have considered Google Docs (restricted sharing), YourQuote (watermarks), and Scribophile (feedback system with limited public access). Based on these requirements, which platform would be the best fit? Are there any additional security measures I should take?

Any online place that you share your writing is going to open you up to plagiarism, no matter how "restricted" the offering.

File online for a copyright, a whole book of poetry for $45: https://copyright.gov/about/fees.html (Single author, same claimant, one work, not for hire)

https://copyright.gov/registration/literary-works/

I'm not familiar with YourQuote but Scribophile has been a good site for feedback. I haven't used it in a while as I now have a good critique group, so YMMV. I don't know about concerns regarding plagiarism. I do know that poems reviewed on Scribophile are not generally considered "published." That's a concern if you will be submitting your work to magazines (both online and print).
