Bev is a canned wine supplier based in Venice, California.[2] The company was founded in 2017 by Alix Peabody.[1]

History

Bev was founded in 2017 by Alix Peabody, who had worked at hedge fund Bridgewater Associates,[3][2] and began fundraising for medical bills by hosting ticketed parties.[3] The experience inspired her to start a wine supply company, that marketed canned wine spritzers to women.[3][2] She used her business connections to find a supplier of rosé.[4] The company later began selling other types of canned wine.[5] The wine was initially marketed online.[6][7] The company eventually signed a distribution deal with wine and spirits distributor Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits.[7]

In January 2020, sisters Erin and Sara Foster invested in the company.[8]

In February 2021, the company signed a distribution deal with E & J Gallo Winery to distribute Bev's wines nationally.[6] The deal would allow the wines to be sold in retailers including Target and Bevmo.[2] That year, Peabody was named founder of the year by AdAge,[9] and was included on Inc's Female Founders 100 list.[10]
