The three things I love the most:
Anna ❤️
Physics and mathematics
Peaceful hiking in the Prealps – Silent paradises among woodland, rocky trails, twisted roots, rustling foliage, hidden ruins, bushes, meadows, lakes, whitish rocks, ancient mule tracks, and streams whispering in the light. Here, time stands still, and among the trunks, I feel as if I am reliving distant eras and "dead seasons," but above all, "the present and living one, and its sound." The gentle peaks rise among valleys dotted with charming villages and offering glimpses worthy of Alessandro Manzoni. Whether in summer or winter, they are the perfect place to sit down, take out some bread and fruit from the backpack, open a book or a notebook, and let thoughts wander between science and the simple pleasure of unwinding. An oasis of peace for those who, at work, see too many bipeds.
Favorite philosophical quote:
"The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge."
– Bertrand Russell
Favorite science quote:
"But if (& oh what a big if) we could conceive in some warm little pond with all sorts of ammonia & phosphoric salts,—light, heat, electricity &c present, that a protein compound was chemically formed, ready to undergo still more complex changes..."
– Charles Darwin, letter to J.D. Hooker, February 1, 1871
️ Favorite food: Focaccia pugliese
Favorite equation:
Favorite song endings: There are so many candidates, for instance 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, but in the end, the choice falls on one of these two (it's impossible to pick just one!)
Favorite film: The Great Dictator – Charlie Chaplin
Watch the final speech in italian
Favorite novel: Sostiene Pereira – Antonio Tabucchi
I’ll let these two quotes have the final word.
- ”Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.” (William James)
- "It is a pity to do nothing on the pretext that we cannot do everything.” (attributed to Winston Churchill)
