I’m teaching an undergraduate experimental physics course next year. Instead of giving students fixed and legacy experiments, I want to give them an open-ended task, like “measure the speed of light”, and they have to come up with their own method and setup.
To prepare, I’d like to plan ahead, have some ideas prepared and buy some equipment they might need.
What are some realistic experiments (either well-known or unknown) that you know of that could be done to measure the speed of light?
