I'm trying to understand why the black hole information paradox is a paradox at all. Physicists generally agree that information that falls into a black hole is not destroyed because it still exists inside the black hole; it's just unreachable from outside of it. The paradox comes into the picture when the black hole evaporates into hawking radiation, at which point the information is "destroyed".
However, one could rewind the path of every particle of hawking radiation to reconstruct the black hole, taking you back to the non-paradoxical, pre-hawking radiation state. I don't get how hawking radiation change anything at all.
