I have read that Newton didn't give a proof that forces are vectors. And after him, geniuses like Lagrange or Hamilton attempted to give a proof and failed.
Though,everybody is confident that force is a vector. If someone could explain what this scientific proof might look like. What is missing in the certainty that force is a vector?
