Could someone example the basics of domain walls (string theory) and what their properties are?
I've looked around but I can't find much.

Domain walls are (D-1)-dimensional topological defects that separate regions of space with different vacuum states in field theories.
They come from spontaneous symmetry breaking when multiple vacua exist, forming hypersurfaces with localized energy density and tension.
In 4D, they act as gravitational repellers. In string theory, they correspond to D-branes and play roles in the flux compactifications and brane-world scenarios.
Cosmologically, stable domain walls would cause observable anisotropies in the CMB (the cosmic microwave background radiation) so they must either decay or be diluted.
Their significance extends to high-energy physics, extra dimensions, and in early universe studies as well.
